MTRC is a German-style Helles lager. Helles is the German word for ‘bright’ or ‘light’ and refers to the pale straw/golden color of the beer. Dating back to the tail end of the 1800s, helles lagers emerged in Munich as a response to the alien invasion of pilsners. (gasp!) To compete with the growing demand, the brewers of Bavaria begrudgingly ceased production of luscious, malty beers and relented to the demands for crispy lagers.
